$50 a shot, that's pricey. I think I'd rather shoot 100 times at 50 cents a shot. If it was for a charging elephant I would spend the extra money. :)

none of its cheap anymore, 22 WMF is 20.00 a box, I can remember when it was $0.50 a box the price on the stuff in the image is really exotic Africa type stuff.

But .338 Lapua Magnum is around 100.00 a box of 20 rounds.

photos of the wax
first is before blending
20150607_155938.jpg
second is after I blended in some Vaseline and toilet bowl wax to it

so the blended seems to carve ok, doesn't shatter like in the first photo. not sure about how the blended will take to body temp while being handled for carving, just have to get ahold of it and see what happens

The recoil from that would be punishing.

Another good reason to go for the .70-150 Winchester is that it is based on the brass 12 gauge shotgun shell case. Those things are fairly cheap. Of course then you would need a reloading set-up. I have a complete one at my shop in California that I haven't used since I was a senior in high school in 1961. As a machinist you could make a set of dies for the .70-150.

builder still picks the caliber unless someones paying to have it made, then they go to someone else I only build for me. Plus I have no interest in building a .70/150

I don't have any reloading equipment but from the looks of things I'm going to have to pick up some on the cheap somewhere, probably a piece at a time. used to have all that stuff but traded it off about 30 years ago.

That's always been my way of doing sculpture. I will not do commission work. Unless you commission me to do whatever it is I want to do.

got word today that next week looks like it will be when I get to finish up my little 22 rifle by doing the case hardening color treatment to it to make it all pretty and nice, then I can prop it up in a corner somewhere in the house and just look at it and when people ask me I can say its a one off from Remington made special for me.
