I decided to make a new breach block as I really wasn't happy with the way the extractor was fitting in the first one that I did. Heres the results of a few hours of work yesterday on the lathe and milling machine

got in a little work on the receiver yesterday and thought that I would show you guys what I have done so far.

I've gotten the screw holes that hold the lower tang in place drilled and tapped they just need to be countersunk but can't do that until I get the screws.

When I was given the castings for this I put the receiver on a surface grinder and had hoped to clean up the sides so that I wouldn't have a butt load of sanding to do, but as can be seen on the side in the photo there is a lot of shrinkage of some other casting problem as shown by the area where the grinder didn't touch, the side that is down in the photo cleaned up picture perfect, but I know you guys don't want to see that.

The two Axis pins I was finally able to yesterday get a profile and finish on them that I'm sorta happy with, now I need to make a one off cutter to profile the ends of the Button (part that holds the pins in place), the button just barely catches the edge of the two pins.

Main, and Trigger Springs have been hardened and tempered to a suitable springy state.

did a bunch of work on the locking lever in the receiver last night, then turned around and ordered up about 30 dollars worth of screws that are originals from Remington new unused stock, I have a couple others that I need but will have to order them from a different outfit as the place I used for the bulk of the screws that I need doesn't have the other two in stock.

also got in some work on making a cutter to profile the button which holds the axis pins in place here's a photo of it, case hardened it and it works pretty good from what little I did with it as a trial.

lucked out last night on Evil Bay and bought myself a set of 50/90 reloading dies for with shipping $45.00 which is about half price so I think I made out pretty good on that deal.

Weather's been either too hot and humid or raining to do anything outside, on top of me just not feeling like doing anything so work has been slow on the rifle, plus I'm at a point in the build where things seem to come to a grinding halt. One reason for the slow down is the barrel work, I need to profile the barrel before threading it, which my mill isn't large enough to handle it so I'm in the search of people that I know who have milling machines to see who might help.

another one of the items that I'm slowed down on is the stock, soon as I get the screws that I have ordered for the lower tang so it won't move around I can start on the Butt Stock.

I knew when I started this build that these periods of what seems like nothing is getting done would poke their ugly heads out.

Anyway bear with me and I'll hopefully in the next week or two have something of interest to post.

It's only 95F here but the humidity is high and I can only go out for an hour or so. A bunch of rain before this. I haven't been able to much of anything and it's dangerous to hang out on ebay when your bored. Sounds like you got a good deal though.

yea I'm thinking the same thing half price is always nice.

think I've just about got the 4th locking lever to work like its suppose to, or anyway the way I think its suppose to work, need to talk to my mentor but times he's hard to get ahold of.

take care of yourself hot weather, high humidity, and bad tickers done need to be mixing together.

Hows the back doing, better I hope.

I'm suppose to be getting some threading dies in the mail today that I need to make some screws with for the rifle, hope they show up like the tracking number say's.

Dave, you made the weather channel this morning, OK city looking at 100F. I went to a flea market yesterday and got too hot, didn't even buy anything. I got cooled down and waiting on the storms to come now, might get some bad ones.
