didn't do a damn thing yesterday other then fight with the yard with the lawnmower, not sure who won me, the yard, or the lawnmower. Rolled out of the sack this morning and felt like a truck had been sitting on me all night.

Anyway the weather is in the triple digits so I doubt that I do anything strenuous again today, I was able to after a big ass fight get the shop monster to wash the dishes so I could put them in the cabinet.

Todays gonna be couch day for as I'm concerned. But I may go get a board to make a bigger ingot mold with, I can give them away as Xmas presents to people that will use them for all kinds of stupid stuff, hell I bet if I made one full of holes someone would use it as a soap dish, it being made from cast iron it would suck up the fats and oils from the soap and never rust, well maybe just a little.

need my cnc router running now, I could make some iron trivets and pawn them off at the flea market.

Gotta go Monday and pick up a bunch of used motor oil from a guy, dudes got probably two drums full he needs to get rid of.

You ease my guilt Dave. Some days when I get out of bed I know it's going to be a no good day. I take long naps. They used to call it old age, but that's not politically correct any more. Maybe the sensitive new age folks would call us age disadvantaged. They have euphemisms for everything else that's the least bit distasteful: sanitary landfill instead of city dump; correctional facility instead of prison—I could go on. Disgusting! I prefer to deal with reality and call a spade a spade.

One of the bright spots of my day is when I open this forum, click on the new posts, and see "Cincinnati Shaper" pop up. Keep on posting.

Just keep on trucking Dave, take a break, have a chat to Charlie and when you can do some more casting or what ever else takes your fancy......I'm hoping to restart my casting soon as I can, but for the moment everything is on hold

gonna fire the furnace up probably Monday, made a change to the ingot pattern put a pad on one end so I can screw in a handle, so gotta make some more, plus made a change to the inner parts of the nozzle made air passages thru the threaded portion deeper so the air can pass easier.

added a mounting boss onto the pattern so that a person can install a handle if they want too, small shrinkage problem at the mounting boss, which is where the gate was at but a bigger sprue and pouring well should fix that. Instead of my usual large fill indictor hole that I put in, I put a couple vents with a 3/32 wire which on a mold this size is plenty to vent the cavity with.

I added a trowel full of sea coal to the sand the other day after doing the cast iron pour, in the right amounts it will help to burn the oxygen out of the mold cavity, with aluminum its not going to do anything really as the aluminum isn't hot enough really to burn it out, and the percentage of one trowel full to a hundred pounds of sand isn't real high. So the most that it may do is if and when it burns the ash will create more fines in the sand which will help give a smooth surface finish.

Anyway we got in some time in the yard before it turns off hotter then the gates of hell out there.

Sensitive folks can kiss my ass, if I want a nap I'll take one its got nothing to do with being old, and yea I'm getting there and also been busted up pretty good over the years.

So Richard if you want to sleep late and take a nap its OK with me, cause I don't care what you call it a Dump is a Dump

Someones gotta keep the doors kicked open, just wish this damn weather would let up so I could work on the stock for my big 50.

It's hard to do anything outside when we're in the upper 90's. I used to think that wasn't too bad but it just takes it out of me now. I used to have energy and money but no time. Now all I have is time, no energy and a little money. I messed up somewhere.

Really like the ingot molds, I'm sure the market is limited but I think you could sell some.

yea I know what you mean, if I had of put my money into something else besides the hedge fund that I did I'd be in pretty good shape, but like you said now all I have is time, hardly any energy, and no money so yea I screwed up big time, but no sense in crying over spilt ice tea (milk spoiled and I had to throw it away).

I get a kick out of making them, anyway its something to do.
