it was printed with PLA.DavidF wrote:looking good...Did he print it in abs or pla??
after all the hours I spent in front of the computer correcting my mistakes then making a ton more of them trying to learn how to draw with this damn program to see a semi finished product is gratifying.Jammer wrote:Wow, that's pretty cool!
First pour till be with aluminum to check some things, then I hope to cast it in Cast Iron, hopefully with no problems knowing that I can melt enough iron to fill it with, and most importantly that I can get it hot enough. should make for a really nice morning in the shed here in a week or so.
I know how bug the pattern is, so I'm thinking that I have a flask that will work just need to put some handles and pins on it, which I just so happen to have ready to screw onto it,
One pattern that a guy needs is one for handles that can have guide pins added to them.

That looks great Dave

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
Mike, it will look a whole lot better when those two become one out of cast iron with no slag holes in it. If I had of been smart I would of made the round part on top 1.375 instead of 1.25 then I could of bored it out and pressed in a sleeve and made it out of aluminum.

been playing with the cad program while I wait on the pattern to get here, not sure when he will mail it. So I been doodling, trying to gain some amount of proficiencie with the program. Anyway I think I'm gaining some the learning scale.
Here is a image of a shourd off of the motor on a small blower that I have. took some squeezing of the brain cell but I figured out how to do the two places on the inside, once I figured it out, didn't take anytime at all.
Hopefully work on the Rolling Block will resume next week, so that will keep me off the streets and out of trouble for a while.

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
got out in the yard Saturday and knocked together a new flask for when I receive the 3D printed pattern for the Slotter Base.
I had one that was the same size except that each half was 6 inches deep which is a lot of sand to mess with.

Looks like yellow pine or treated lumber. You paint yours like me, I got tired of putting it together backwards. X on one end and O on the other.
Re: Cincinnati Shaper
treated 5/4 decking boards, the don't bust out from the screws like the 3/4" stuff does. And your right I get pretty technical with the painting, use whatever color I can find and put some on one end and side. that way if I don't see paint on both halves I know I'm about to screw up.
Even my metal ones have paint on them.

Hoping to shoot this by Christmas, I need to size the slugs that I have before I can load any shells for it.
