yea it came out pretty good only major shrinkage was those two spots where I had pushed a vent wire thru the sand, there was some on the bottom but you could barely see it I didn't see it until I files the gate and little bit of flash off.

For a first time using 3D printed patterns I'd say yes to buying one of the printers if I had the extra cash laying around. I will probably repour this pattern tomorrow along with another pattern that was sent to me.

I did some more sanding on the pattern so it should pull better, plus the sand hadn't been used for a couple weeks and needed more mulling time then I allowed, I want to see if the letters will pull out cleaner then they did.

been in the back yard playing with the stuff.

here's some photos to keep you guys out of trouble

I was able to get the fonts to pull clean, but having a few shrinkage issues as you can see in the photos, I know what caused it just need to fix the damn problem by getting a new molder that will cut the gates deep enough.

the photos are to two separate pours that I did today.

bad half of todays pour

still having an shrinkage issue, going to stick a bigger riser in the middle of where its shrinking at I dropped the pour temp down to around 1250 which helped with the sandpaper surface finish that I was having from pouring too hot.

I got rid of most of the shrinkage today still have some on the small slotter base which won't be a problem the next time I cast it. The pour I did today the Fluke said I was around 1250 F I took the time to actually wait for the temp to stabilize and had to thow in some extra to cool the crucible down, had a pretty big pot full, the bigger the melt the slower you can work with it, not like pulling out a 1 or 2 pound pour which will cool off in a heartbeat.

its been pretty nice the last couple of days, so the casting has been fun with it not being blistering hot around the furnace.
