did some whittling and wood butchering today. cut 3 inches off the front end and about 4 inches off the back end.

and then there was the shop monster

he does look that way, don't know what he's going to do when there's ice on everything and he's gotta go outside to take a leak.

Thanks on the stock, its still a long way from being done.

That stock looks like it's upside down. I know it can be made and work either way, it's just that I'm used to seeing it reverse on so many lever and bolt action weapons. Was the stocks this way on the original manufactured rifles of this type?

yep sure was, its pointing the right way, your thinking of a bolt action style stock with what amounts to a pistol grip, some of the more sportier single shots had stocks like that.

rubbed off a bunch more wood today and then put on a little oil to try and get an idea of what his things going to look like. its only sanded to 60 grit I know a little rough for a handrubbed wax finish but here the photo.

it should look a hell of a lot better when I get it down to the final finish and get rid of the 60 grit scratches, and the make left by the hoof rasp I used on it.
