Cincinnati Shaper
Re: Cincinnati Shaper
thanks, its really just about as plain as you can get when making a knife, acutally if it had what they call a blood groove in it, it would look similar to a Buck, although I think buck had the handles where they had a metal pommel on there fixed blade knifes, I wanted to do that to this one but the piece of nickel silver that I have isn't wide enough make the pieces out of.

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
should have some new modified patterns by the end of the week, the base pattern is not in the photo it was still printing when this was taken.
the anchor looking part is for an antique powder measure that I saw and figured that since it was made with basically one part that I could make something that would look pretty close to the original

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
I really like the knife, and all the patterns are great. How much smoothing did you have to do?
Re: Cincinnati Shaper
on the knife a couple weeks worth hitting it off and on with sandpaper, on the patterns not a lot depends on how thick the layers were laid down normally just some rubbing with some 320 sandpaper and maybe some high build primer to fill in the lows.

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
I've just been cleaning the garage. Make it all nice for whoever buys the place. Finished up the electric too. Same thing I did when I moved here. Finished all the projects I put off for years and then moved out. ??

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
Back to Ohio. Wife's family is there and things didn't work out as planned here.
Re: Cincinnati Shaper
got in a couple hours out in the shed with the new patterns, I didn't cast the base as it needs to have a board cut and sanded then the two screwed together before I can cast it.
the odd anchor looking part is a piece that I drew up trying to rely on memory of what I had seen, anyway it won't work but I casted it anyway the three bosses that are on it are too small.
theres a big shrink in that one part caused by me not cutting the gate deep enough

Re: Cincinnati Shaper
got asked if I could make some clips for a guy, they weren't very big, the smallest one in the photo is the one that wouldn't work so I made three like the big one in the photo. Damn things took me about 4.5 hours to chew out of a hunk of 2 inch round bar. I put a quarter in the photo for something to gauge the size of the parts by.
